Programs
Welcome to the Alamance Parks' Baseball Program. Our baseball program focuses on the skill development of players by facilitating fun and competitive practices and games that give kids the opportunity to build relationships with their teammates. We can accept up to 24 kids in each age division. Baseball will run for 8 weeks starting in the beginning of June and ending in late July.
When and Where Do We Play?
7:15pm-8:15pm on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the B. Everett Jordan Elementary Ballfield starting June 3rd and ending July 24th.
Address: (5827 Church Rd, Graham, NC 27253)
Basic Curriculum:
First 3 weeks of clinic based practices; focused on understanding basic game strategy, baseball terminology, skill focused games, and ways to practice on kids' skills at home.
The last 5 weeks of the baseball program will be exhibition style games. *This age group is player pitch (not coaches pitch). Also for games, our group of kids will be split up into teams differently every week to encourage parity between teams and provide different game experience every week. Score will be kept and the game will be umpired by the head baseball instructor.
Coaching:
There will be a trained and experienced staff person as the head baseball coach/instructor that facilitates all of the practices and games for all of the kids. The head coach will also serve as the main umpire when exhibition games are going on. We want to train and development players to make decisions during the game, that does not require a coach on in the dugout telling them what to do. The head coach will be able to assist in game management while they are on the field umpiring the game.
Need for parent volunteers: We have a need for parent/adult volunteers who would be interested in different roles of helping to administer this program efficiently. (Assistant Coaches, Score Keepers, Snack Organizers (group mom/dad), etc. If interested please email guil.johnson@alamance-nc.com
Participants should wear comfortable baseball attire (baseball glove, hat, baseball pants/athletic pants, baseball cleats/athletic shoes (no metal spikes), and a t-shirt). We will show an example of proper baseball attire at the first practice. Kids are welcome to bring their own bat and helmet (must have protective facemask), but the Alamance Parks Department will provide equipment for kids who do not have or forget it at home.
